About ongmap.com

ONGMAP collects a vast range of information about what is at a given location and makes it easily locatable on a map of the world. For details, please read  “How to use ONGMAP.COM”

I have not made any business plan or any other concrete plan for this web site. What I’m sure is that I want to map and keep mapping everything I can find that has geographic info (If you have a good plan and if you can share it with me, I’ll be more than happy to discuss it)

User registration

You can use ONGMAP.COM without user registration, but if you do, you get a little more functionality.  Once you are registered, and logged in, you can

• Create your own “mapmark” (like bookmarks) to mark the places you liked or you want to check out later. You can share your marks with others or keep them private. All you need to do is locate the place and right click to show the menu and select “mapmark”.
• Create links to KML/KMZ files which are publicly available on internet, and view their data on ONGMAP.COM. By doing this, you don’t have to download those files and view them on Google Earth.
• Track back your paths at ONGMAP.COM. Due to the nature of AJAX application, browsers “Back” button does not work well at ONGMAP.COM. But with this functionality, you can go back to the place you were looking.

How to use

I tried to make this site as intuitive as possible. However, if you think it’s not so intuitive, please take a look at “How to use ONGMAP.COM“. If it doesn’t work, please leave a message here (you can leave a comment from the bottom of this page).

ONGMAP.COM heavily utilizes JavaScript. So, you need to activate JavaScript to use this site. Currently, there is no version for JavaScript disabled browsers. Talking about web browsers, I have tested with FireFox2 as well as Internet Explorer6. For other browsers like Safari, Opera, IE7, I have not got a chance to test. If you encounter any troubles with those browsers, please let me know. Personally, I find FireFox is the best browser to access ONGMAP.COM.
